Indoor and Rainy Day Activities
Whether it's a downpour outside or you just need a little break from
all that beautiful sunshine, these activities are definitely worth stepping
in for.
Story Time
Sit back, relax, and even read a magazine while the kids enjoy a great
story read by our local librarians. Just try to make sure to go at age
appropriate times.
The Gunnison Library offers story time in June and July on Tuesdays from
10-10:30 a.m. for ages 0-3, and Wednesdays from 9:30-10 a.m. for ages
3-5. Also offered is the Summer Reading Program on Thursdays from 9-10
a.m. for ages kindergarten and up.
The Crested Butte Library offers story time on Wednesday from 10:45-11
a.m. for toddlers and 2:30-3 p.m. for 5 and up, and Thursdays 10:30-11
a.m. for ages 3-5.
Both libraries also offer fun games on the computers for kids, cozy reading
areas, and movie and CD rentals.
Crested Butte Heritage Museum
Located Across from Donita's on Elk Ave, this museum has a replica of
the 1920s train that ran around the valley, the Denver Grand Rio. There
are also ranching, cowboy, mining, and old ski equipment displays, as
well a great gift shop with toys and souvenirs. Tours are given for groups
of 10 or more and admission for children is $3.
Majestic Theater
Located in Crested Butte next to Clark's Market, this is the only movie
theater in the valley. They offer new movies for children and adults,
as well as the occasional showing of older classics. For movie times call

Coachlight Lanes
Located in Gunnison at 405 West Tomichi, this bowling alley offers bumper
bowling for kids, pool, video games and air hockey. For open bowling times
call 970-641-1171. Note: This is a smoking facility until Colorado State
Law changes to non-smoking public facilities.
Passion for Yarn and Beads
You can receive free knitting lessons with the purchase of materials.
Shetland wool from sheep raised by local 4-H club is available for purchase.

Gunnison Recreation Center
Climbing wall, game room, foosball, video games, open gym times and more

Western State College Games Area
Located in the basement of the College Union Building, there are pool
tables, a bowling alley, table tennis ,a foosball table and video games.
