Where to Park Your Vehicle

Crested Butte Parking
Parking Regulations: Abide by signs. (Winter regulations are very different.)
Public Parking:
4-way stop near Chamber of Commerce
1st and Elk Ave.
Next to True Value on 6th Street
Maroon St., next to fire station
2-hour parking on Elk Ave. until 5 p.m.
(You can park and use an "umbrella stroller" for moving around town in the summer. Remember, the downtown is only 5 x 2 blocks.)

Mt. Crested Butte Parking
Mt. Crested Butte is a wonderful place and the base area has great shopping, restaurants, and the chair lift ride is a favorite. There are fabulous bike trails
on Mt. Crested Butte. The best way to experience this is to park in town and take the bus. You can put your bikes on a rack on the bus, or rent them when you get there. Major construction is going on up there this summer and parking available close by will be minimal. Besides that, kids love to ride the bus.
No parking on public rights of way. Abide by signs.
Public Parking
Immediately past Treasury Rd. on the right off Gothic Rd. (parking lot)
Snowmass Rd. (parking lot) behind Wood Creek Plaza
There are a few 1 1/2-hour parking spaces, accessed through CBMR parking lot, near Grand Lodge, which are close to the base of the ski area.
You can also park in the CBMR ski area parking lot which is behind the Grand Lodge Hotel. It is free during the summer.
(The roads are a little rough, but an "umbrella stroller" is adequate for getting around. A baby jogger is recommended.)

Gunnison Parking
Abide by signs for regulations.
Public Parking:
2 hr. parking on Main St. 8-5pm.
County Courthouse Virginia & Main St.
Hwy. 50, two large parks, public parking around parks. No overnight parking.

Summer Schedule (ends early September)
The Town Shuttle runs daily between Mt. Crested Butte and Crested Butte, departing from Town Center (on Mt. Crested Butte), every 20 minutes from 10:00 a.m. to 7:40 p.m., and every 40 minutes from 7:35 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 7:40 p.m. to midnight

Chamber of Commerce has an excellent map of bus stops.

Where to do laundry
Hint: Travel with a "stain stick." Rub it onto stains while you travel until you have a chance to wash clothes.

Maps
Forest Service Maps are available at most sporting good stores and at the Forest Service office at 216 N. Colorado in Gunnison. 641-0471. A must-have for hiking.

Excellent maps of the area are available for free at the Chamber of Commerce. There is a map of the bus route in Crested Butte that is very helpful.
