Once You've Got the Babysitter...

Parenting is a full time job and all jobs require breaks. Line up a professional caregiver for your

Need some suggestions for what to do?

Spend the day hiking more strenuous trails, or mountain biking on advanced trails. You can pick up maps, gear, snacks and rent bikes at Big Al's Bicycle Heaven on the corner of 4th and Belleview, or give them a call at 970-349-0515. The Tune-Up in Gunnison offers a wide array of bicycles, including children's top-of-the-line mountain bikes, clothes and information for you about the biking trails in Gunnison.

Chartered fishing trips on Blue Mesa Reservoir can be made through Gene Taylor's in Gunnison 970-641-1845, and they know where the fish are! Three Rivers Resort in Almont provides float trips for fishing, kayaking lessons, a variety of raft trips and more. Thinking more about relaxing? A Day at the Studio Spa offers body wraps, waxing, massage and a variety of other pampering services, and now features a yoga room. Want to freshen up your dance moves? Dance lessons offered by Nancy Church are offered Sunday nights from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Jerry's Gym in the CB Town Hall. Learn a new dance every two weeks, including ballroom, salsa, mambo, samba, swing and the waltz. $10.00 per person. Private lessons are also available upon request. Prefer a night on the town? Have a gourmet dinner at one of Gunnison County's many fine dining establishments. The Timberline Restaurant in Crested Butte offers New American Cuisine in an intimate atmosphere. See their menu at www.timberlinerestaurant.com and call 970-349-9831 for a reservation.

Both Gunnison and Crested Butte offer several choices that include gourmet French food, world-class sushi, delicious Italian, island-style meals and spicy Thai. Wine bars are always great for a pre-dinner drink and some acoustic music. After dinner, head to one of our watering holes and dance to live music and DJ's. Check the local newspapers for information on what bands and celebrations are taking place. Have a blast, but make sure to take the bus home, call the free ride in Gunnison, or take the taxi in Crested Butte.

Some summer events to check out are the Black and White Ball (July 2), an evening of live music and dancing in the streets to benefit the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum; and the Art Walk Evenings through the art galleries in Gunnison and in Crested Butte. Cattlemen's Days PRCA Rodeo & Race Meet - FAMILY DAY - is Saturday, July 14. Children 10 and younger free with a paid adult admission. Spend an evening at the Rodeo and then head over to the Dance at the Elks Lodge on Friday, July 13 or Saturday July 14. The music is fun to dance to featuring country swing and a rock-a-billy twist!
