Georgetown Loop Railroad

Journey to another time on a scenic and historic train ride on with the Georgetown Loop Railroad.
Located 45 miles west of Denver on I-70, this steam locomotive takes you into the mountains past the remains of several gold and silver mines. The open cars allow an unobstructed view of everything along the 1 1/2 hour ride. Food is permitted on the train, and you can purchase snacks as well as railroad-themed books, clothing and drinks at gift shops located on both ends of the line. There is no restroom on the train.
The train runs from May 24 – Oct. 13. The price round trip is $21.50 for adults, $19.50 for children (3-15 yrs.), and children 2 and under can ride free if they sit on an adult’s lap.
The train is ADA accessible, but mine tours are not. When traveling on I-70 east or westbound, take Exit 226 and follow signs to either the Silver Plume Depot, or the Devil’s Gate Station in Georgetown. Be sure to visit the Georgetown-Silver Plume National Historic Landmark District. The two towns have one of the largest concentrations of Victorian buildings in the country, with many unique shops and restaurants. There is also a city park with a gazebo. Pagosa Hot Springs

Nearly 150 years have passed since The Great Pagosa Hot Spring was discovered by the white man, yet its healing powers were surely known for centuries before to Native American tribes who inhabited the region. It is from these early inhabitants that Pagosa draws its name – Pag Osah, or “healing waters”.
Today visitors will find “The Springs Resort”, a 30-acre complex, including 18 mineral pools, non-mineral lap pool and jacuzzi, bath house, hotel and health facility featuring massage, a salon and more. Frequented by those who live regionally and travel to Pagosa specifically to treat themselves to a soak in the therapeutic pools, The Springs Resort is now just emerging as one of the top hot springs in the world.
The Springs Resort is set on the banks of the San Juan River, which flows from the peaks of the majestic San Juan Mountains that provide the backdrop for Pagosa Springs.
There are 16 soaking pools for families, and three pools are designated as adults only. The pools range in temperature from 87 degrees to 114 degrees farenheit. Towels are $1.75 for rentals (or bring your own), day lockers are $2.00 (car keys needed for deposit) and can be used as much as you want for the day. Harmony Works Restaurant is in the parking lot area, next to the spa. There is a gazebo in pool area serving smoothies, coffee drinks, sandwiches, and snacks. There are also vending machines with ice cream, drinks, and other munchies. You are also welcome to bring your own picnic as long as there is no glass and no alcohol. Admission is $17.25 for adults and $9.00 for children. If you leave the resort, you have to pay to come back in unless you purchase an all day pass for $35.00. The all day admission includes a locker. For more information, visit their website at http://pagosahotsprings.com or call (970) 264-4168 and press ext. 555 for the bath house.
