When traveling with your children, you may want to have some first aid items handy. A resealable plastic bag will keep items from spilling onto clothes in your suitcase or travel bag.
Recommended items are:

  • Infant/child thermometer
  • Antiseptic wipes
  • Antihistamines
  • Adhesive bandages
  • Liquid or chewable pain reliever/fever reducer
  • Hydrocortisone cream
  • Calibrated spoon or oral dropper
  • Petroleum jelly-
    Can be used for:
Sore cheeks (prevent windburn and dry skin)
Chapped lips (moisturize and keep them from cracking)
Frostbite (protect exposed skin from freezing in the winter)
Nosebleeds (lubricate fragile skin and membranes in the nose and avoid cracking)
Tender bottoms (soothe diaper rash or irritation from wiping)

At high altitude, drink plenty of water at every meal and in between meals as well. Keep water next to the bed at night. An electrolyte drink should be watered down 50% for children.

Sunscreen must be thoroughly applied 20 minutes prior to exposure to the sun. Protect your child's eyes with sunglasses and/or goggles.
